Procurement and Sourcing Manager

Role Description

Evgenis UK Ltd, a leading distributor and manufacturer of food packaging products under
the ecpack brand, is seeking a skilled Procurement and Sourcing Manager to enhance our
international procurement operations. This critical role will oversee sourcing strategies,
focusing on securing high-quality, cost-effective food packaging products from global
markets, with a particular emphasis on China and India, to support our competitive position
in the UK’s food packaging industry.

Key Responsibilities
• International Sourcing and Supplier Management: Lead the sourcing of general and
bespoke food packaging products from international markets, primarily China and
India, ensuring alignment with Evgenis UK Ltd’s quality, cost, and sustainability
goals. Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to secure reliable,
long-term partnerships while negotiating favorable terms to optimize pricing and
supply chain efficiency.

• Regulatory and Environmental Compliance: Ensure all sourced products comply
with UK regulatory standards, including food safety, packaging regulations, and
environmental requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Extended
Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Packaging tax, ensuring compliance with its
obligations, such as reporting packaging data and managing associated costs, to
minimize financial and legal risks for the business.

• Market Awareness and Innovation: Stay informed about global trends in material
science, packaging innovation, and sustainability practices, particularly in China and
India, to source innovative, eco-friendly products that align with market demands and
environmental goals. Leverage this expertise to introduce new product lines that
enhance ecpack’s offerings and competitive edge.

• Travel and Supplier Engagement: Travel extensively to China, India, and other
international markets (e.g., Turkey) as needed to conduct on-site supplier audits,
negotiate contracts, and build relationships with key stakeholders. This role requires a
willingness to travel frequently, often for extended periods, to ensure seamless
procurement operations and to address supply chain challenges in real-time.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, warehouse, and
inventory management teams to forecast demand, manage stock levels, and ensure
timely availability of products. Provide insights on lead times, pricing, and product
specifications to support efficient order processing and delivery to customers.

• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks in the international supply chain,
including currency fluctuations, geopolitical issues, and logistical challenges, to
ensure continuity of supply and cost stability for Evgenis UK Ltd.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience in International Sourcing: A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in
international procurement and sourcing, with a specific focus on China and India. The
candidate must have a track record of successfully sourcing products in these markets,
navigating complex supply chains, and managing cross-border supplier relationships.

• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential, with proficiency in Mandarin
and/or Hindi being a significant advantage. The ability to speak local languages
facilitates direct communication with suppliers in China and India, enabling more
effective negotiations, cultural understanding, and relationship-building.

• Regulatory and Environmental Awareness: Strong knowledge of UK regulatory
frameworks for food packaging, including food safety standards, environmental
regulations, and compliance with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for
Packaging tax. The candidate must understand how to ensure sourced products meet
these standards while minimizing environmental impact and associated costs.

• Willingness to Travel: A demonstrated willingness to travel extensively, both
domestically and internationally, to meet with suppliers, attend trade fairs, and
conduct on-site evaluations. The role may require up to 40% travel time, including
extended stays in China, India, and other sourcing regions.

• Analytical and Negotiation Skills: Exceptional analytical skills to assess supplier
capabilities, product quality, and pricing structures, paired with strong negotiation
skills to secure competitive deals that benefit Evgenis UK Ltd’s bottom line.

• Material Science Knowledge: Awareness of material science trends in food packaging,
such as biodegradable materials, recyclability, and sustainability innovations, to
ensure sourced products align with ecpack’s commitment to environmental
responsibility and market demands.

• Cultural and Market Insight: Deep understanding of the business cultures, market
dynamics, and logistical challenges in China and India, enabling the candidate to
navigate these markets effectively and source products that meet both UK and
international standards.
